No, that’s “BS”……Actually, “The Exorcist” was the first horror movie to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar in 1974. It would eventually lose to “The Sting” starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman.
But back in 1974, “The Exorcist” was a worldwide phenomenon on the effect it had on audiences…..it was actually banned in several areas.
