Every Friday in October, I thought it would be fun to take you to some horror movie locations….you know, the spots where some of your favorite horror movies were filmed…..And since “The Shining” came in at #5 on my Top 5 list of horror movies yesterday, I thought today it would be appropriate to visit the Stanley Hotel. (AKA The Overlook Hotel in “The Shining”)
In 1974, Stephen King visited the hotel in the hopes that a “change of scenery” would shake him out of a bad case of writer’s block. It did that…..and more. The hotel was about to close down for the winter, and King and his wife pretty much had the place to themselves, just like in the movie.
But the strange occurrences at the Stanley Hotel were happening long before Stephen King renamed it the Overlook Hotel and wrote about it in his book….CLICK HERE/AMUSE.VICE.COM to learn more about the hotel and see some photographs….
