How do you celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock? With a 3-day 50th anniversary concert! While no performers have been announced yet, Woodstock 2019 is a go.
The show will take place in Upstate New York at The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts August 16-18, 2019. Now, it’s not actually called Woodstock, but rather the Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival according to Syracuse.com. It will also feature talks in the style of TED Talks and a museum dedicated to the original festival.
400,000 people attending the original Woodstock in 1969, which is crazy when you think about how big that crowd is. There was a 25 year anniversary show in 1994 as well. Carlos Santana performed at both festivals and says that he is booked for the Bethel show as well. He also claims he’s been approached by Michael Lang, the original Woodstock promoter for a separate show.
Lang told the Poughkeepsie Journal that he does have plans in the works for an anniversary show but it is independent of the Bethel event. Other rumored groups for the Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival include Daft Punk, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Ariana Grande, Coldplay, Phish, The Weeknd, Elton John, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Pink, The Who, Santana, Zac Brown Band, Mumford & Sons, and The Chainsmokers.
